Tamarind Dhow is Mombasa's signature waterfront dining experience, set aboard a beautifully restored traditional dhow moored on Tudor Creek at the Tamarind jetty in Mkomani. Guests board the vessel for a seafood-led menu inspired by Kenya's Swahili coast, featuring dishes such as grilled lobster, mangrove oysters, tandoori crab cakes, chilli crab, prawns piri-piri and lobster thermidor, backed by an extensive wine and cocktail list. The dhow seats around 70 guests for dinner and is also available for private cocktail functions and celebrations. As the sun sets over the creek, warm lantern light, live entertainment and the sea breeze set the scene for what regulars call one of the coast's most memorable dinner settings — part restaurant, part journey through Mombasa's dhow-trading history. Reservations are recommended, particularly for sunset seating and during peak coastal tourism season.
